Your residence card is nearing its expiry date. You must renew it at the Préfecture de police nearest to your domicile

Where do you renew your residence card?

At the closest "Préfecture de police" from your home. If you are still in the same département, go to the same place where you made your first application. If you have changed département, go to the Préfecture of your new place of residence.

When should you apply for the renewal?

Two months before the expiry date of your temporary residence card. When you submit your application, you will receive a receipt (proof that your application is being processed) up to the moment the Préfecture validates your application and provides you your new residence card.

Which documents do you have to provide?

The list of supporting documents can vary from one Préfecture de police to another:

• your current valid passport;
• your current residence permit;
• proof of domicile in France (rental receipt, electricity bill, telephone bill for example);
• proof of resources of at least 430 €:
• for the previous year: all documents to support the amounts you have received,
• for the coming year: the amounts you will receive (grants, statement indicating support provided by your family, employment contract, latest pay slips, etc.).
• proof of your studies:
• proof of enrolment in your establishment or training course,
• record of your studies in France.
• proof of your seriousness and commitment:
• proof of enrolment/sitting the examinations,
• results and diplomas obtained.
• recent passport size identity photos.
