To obtain your visa, you must take out health insurance and repatriation assistance up to the date you enrol in the Student Social Security scheme.
Visa insurance: mandatory in order to obtain a student visa
When you come to study in France, you must have a visa and healthcare-repatriation insurance because you are entering the Schengen area. This is mandatory.
The SMENO “Incoming Cover” insurance package will cover you.
Why is healthcare insurance mandatory?
Because if something happens to you in France you will not be covered and will have to pay for your hospitalisation and repatriation to your own country.
You should be aware that one day of care and treatment in a French public hospital can cost up to 1,500 € per day in specialised wards.
Can you obtain a visa without taking our healthcare insurance?
No. When you apply for your visa, you must prove that you have insurance cover.
Your visa will be refused if you do not have appropriate insurance cover.
The SMENO “Incoming Cover” insurance: essential
“Incoming Cover” is the ideal healthcare-repatriation insurance for you: you are covered for up to 4 months after your arrival in France. This means you will have time to enrol in the Student social security scheme. Once you have enrolled, the Social security scheme will take over and will reimburse your medical expenses.
“Incoming Cover” is also the answer for any shorter tourist stays.
