Emergency numbers

Emergency numbers are usually free phone numbers. Print out the numbers and keep them close to your telephone. You will not waste time looking for them, if ever you need them.

Emergency number from a mobile phone (GSM): 112

This is also the European emergency number. You can use this number in any country in the European Union. You will be transferred automatically to the fire service, police, etc. according to your need.

From a landline phone

Fire brigade (Pompiers): 18
The fire service can be called out in numerous cases: fire, flood, drowning, childbirth, person feeling unwell in the street, minor accidents, etc.

Emergency medical service (Samu): 15

In the event of a medical problem, a doctor will advise you about what to do over the phone. Depending on the seriousness of the situation, he will call out a GP, ambulance or the fire service (pompiers).
