- Studying in France: the European exchange programmes Erasmus and Erasmus Mundus
Once they arrive in France, foreign students must complete their administrative and educational enrolment at the university before starting classes.
The administrative and educational enrolment at the University
You have been accepted for the course you chose. Once you arrive in France, you must enrol at the university before the start of classes and receive your student card.
Administrative enrolment
This is when you officially become a student. Once your preliminary enrolment has been confirmed, the university will fix a time and date at the university for your administrative enrolment: you will receive a list of the documents to be presented on that date (your diplomas (originals and photocopies), passport or identity card, passport identity photos, document testifying that you are participating in an exchange programme, proof of a grant, etc.).
When you enrol you will:
- complete and sign your student form;
- have to choose (in certain cases) a social security centre Sécurité sociale étudiante and pay the contribution (200 € for university year 2010-2011);
- pay the university enrolment fee
- receive your student card.
Educational enrolment
The educational enrolment is when you choose your classes and options. This enables the number of students per class to be calculated, tutorial groups to be formed and time tables to be organised.
Before classes begin, you need to contact the secretarial office for your subject to obtain the list of classes and teachers and make your choice.
